New Curriculum Material added to Siemens Academic Resource Center & Other News
As part of its commitment to support skilled learning, Siemens PLM Software has added two new learning tools to its Academic Resource Center, an NX9.0 for Engineering Design textbook, and the Greenpower Steering Wheel Tutorial.
NX9.0 for Engineering Design was written by Dr Ming C. Leu from Missouri University of Science & Technology and aims to makes industry product development software easy to comprehend. The text book can aid users that have no prior experience, but are interested in learning NX to be able to design mechanical components and assemblies or to those who know the software but perhaps aren’t aware of some of the new functionality included in NX9.0. Each chapter develops user knowledge of computer-aided design (CAD), computer-aided engineering (CAE), and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) for intuitive, engaged learning. Set up with examples, exercises, and practice problems, the book provides step by step instruction to ease users into NX’s features, operations, basic functions and commands. Readers will learn sketching, modeling, and model manufacturing through explanations aided by dialog boxes and screen images. The guide comes with downloadable models to help demonstrate key component analyses. Go check it out and share your thoughts on our NX Forum!
The Greenpower Steering Wheel Tutorial embodies the intuitive learning power of the NX9.0 textbook but caters to younger audiences in a classroom setting. Developed by teachers, for teachers, this high school level tutorial provides instruction for 3D modeling a steering wheel. As the main control of the car, the steering wheel is a key component in energy maximization. Using Solid Edge design software, the tutorial shows users how to assemble the switches and controls, as well as render images and drawings. This tutorial also provides the features, sketches, and dimensions needed for modeling and 3D printing. Here you can learn more about Greenpower.
