Siemens PLM Software plays a critical role in the success of MSU EcoCAR 3

One of the many real-world competitions Siemens sponsors is EcoCAR. Developed by General Motors and the U.S. Department of Energy, 16 teams from North America are working on turning a 2016 Chevy Camaro into a hybrid electric vehicle. One of the teams competing is Mississippi State University. The team has had much success in the first two years of the competition, winning the Siemens Software Excellence Award as well as placing fifth overall in year two of the competition.

Siemens is a sponsor of EcoCAR 3 and has granted millions of dollars’ worth of software programs to the teams involved. One of the most widely used software programs is NX. NX allows the students to create, redesign and deliver their teams’ car as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Many of the teams, such as McMaster University, University of Alabama, and University of Tennessee, have chosen to show their gratitude for the sponsorship by creating sponsor collaboration videos in which they recognize Siemens for the sponsorship and assistance in the competition.

Earlier this month, Mississippi State University released their own sponsorship video through the EcoCAR GreenGarage Blog. You can watch their video below to learn more on how Siemens powers the competitions preparing the engineers of tomorrow.
