The Additive Manufacturing Experience Center Goes Digital!
Early this summer, in response to the social distancing requirements of the COVID pandemic, Siemens launched a digital version of its popular Additive Manufacturing Experience Center.
The AMEC is a showcase of Siemens technology related to additive manufacturing. Thousands of people experienced the AMEC first-hand last year. But for many, face-to-face meetings remain a challenge. So, Siemens took the AMEC digital. The team has created an exact “digital twin” of the physical AMEC where every station, every example, and every visual is replicated in full detail. Even though you may be thousands of miles away, you can still get the full AMEC experience.
The new Digital AMEC grand opening was a great success. Dr. Karsten Heuser, Vice President of Additive Manufacturing for Siemens, hosted the event, which included an announcement by Dr. Wolfgang Huering, CEO of Motion Control, on the collaboration between Siemens, FIAT and Comau to develop a robotic additive manufacturing solution.
Thomas Duerr and Markus Obermeier walked through the entire end-to-end design, 3D printing, post-processing, and industrialization of a radiator mold for a race car. Charlene van Wingerden from CEAD joined in digitally from Delft, Netherlands to showcase the company’s large-scale printer.
