To kick off the year, Siemens announced that Swedish electric airplane manufacturer Heart Aerospace chose Capital software for the design, development, and certification of its zero-emission electric aircraft. The company’s mission is to create an environmentally friendly, affordable, and accessible mode of transportation. Siemens Capital software’s compliance functionality is crucial for Heart Aerospace to streamline the complex Electrical Wiring Interconnect System (EWIS) and ensure faster regulatory compliance. The decision to adopt Capital was influenced by the software’s ability to seamlessly integrate electrical and avionic system deliverables throughout the development phases.
2. AEROSPACE White Paper: Six ways a digital twin reduces A&D program risk
As senior director of the aerospace and defense business for Siemens Capital, Anthony Nicoli shared how customers’ platforms in this industry have become increasingly high-risk due to competitive margin pressures and complex design requirements that affect the entire supply chain. Customers now demand enhanced platform performance, leading OEMs to incorporate more capabilities through E/E systems. He discusses how platform developers can manage the program risks associated with these changes.
3. AUTOMOTIVE White Paper: Maintaining sustainability in the wiring harness industry
One of the top white paper of 2023 was by senior director of automotive and transportation for Siemens Capital, Doug Burcicki and Lena Stein, market development specialist. It focused squarely on the real and important ways the automotive and heavy equipment industries need to achieve viable sustainability. This includes using digital twin technology to create a holistic overview of the impact that their product has on the environment during its lifecycle. This enables companies to integrate impact data like the CO2 footprint into their decision-making process and find effective ways to design sustainable products.

In April 2023, Siemens and IBM announced the partnership to deliver an innovative software integration between Siemens Capital software and IBM® Engineering Systems Design Rhapsody® for systems engineering, with solutions from the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio of software and services. With two new products – Capital™ Software Developer with IBM Rhapsody and Capital™ Systems Modeler with IBM Rhapsody – customers benefit from advanced systems engineering and asset management, and seamless workflows between mechanical, electronics, electrical and software engineering domains. The solution enables effective collaboration by eliminating disconnected processes and data silos.
