ESE Kongress 2019

The Fall is the traditional time for conferences to start and they are, indeed, coming along thick and fast. One event that I have presented at a number of times over the years is ESE Kongress, which takes place in Sindelfigen – near Stuttgart, Germany. The next one takes place 2-6 December …

“ESE” stands for “Embedded System Engineering” and this is the core focus of the conference. Most of the sessions are delivered in German, so I am always pleased when they accept a submission from me that they know will be in English.

This year I have a single session [at 08:50 on Wednesday 4 December] :

Selecting an Embedded Operating System

Most modern embedded systems employ an operating system [OS] of some kind, and this necessitates some critical design decisions. Should you obtain a commercially available OS, choose one of the “free” offerings, or develop one in-house? If the acquisition of a commercial OS is planned, how do you make the selection? This session reviews in detail all the facets of the make vs. buy and OS selection decisions – both technical and commercial – for an OS on an embedded design.

If you are attending ESE, do come along and say Hi [or “grüß Gott” perhaps]. If you would like a copy of my presentation, please email or contact me via social media.
