ESC Silicon Valley: The RTOS Smackdown Revival
For me, the Embedded Systems Conference has been an important date on my calendar for many years. The conference has been given various different names over the years, but I am glad that its identity has finally been restored. The event has moved around the year somewhat and similar events have been organized at other locations around the world.
The Silicon Valley ESC, which takes place next week, is somehow the “real thing” …
Earlier this year, I enjoyed attending the Boston ESC, where I delivered a couple of classes and participated in another interesting session – The RTOS Smackdown.
Unfortunately, for various reasons, I will not be attending ESC this year. However, I will be there in spirit, as I was scheduled to deliver a class, which my colleague, Andrew Caples, will now look after. The paper is titled Dynamic Memory Allocation & Fragmentation In C & C++ and takes place at 11:00 on Tuesday. If you would like to receive a copy of my slides, please contact me via email or social networking.
The RTOS Smackdown event will also be reprised. This will be a fun session, incorporating a number of speakers, each with a tiny amount of time to pitch their RTOS product or perspective. In Boston, this session was very popular – standing room only – and was enthusiastically received. The session takes place at 08:00 on Wednesday and includes a free breakfast [thanks to sponsorship by Mentor Graphics]. My colleague Andrew will also be participating in my place.
