Across the board, power is now tipping performance as the most critical design metric. “People want to design IPs and SoCs that are energy efficient, and they want the tools to have ways to take power as the primary constraint, as the primary metric, and then do the analysis,” said Qazi Ahmed, principal product manager for PowerPro at Siemens EDA. “It could be a synthesis tool. It could even be a downstream tool, like a P&R tool. They want tools to do that.”
