Several factors are driving these changes, including the slowdown in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/semiengineering.com\/knowledge_centers\/standards-laws\/laws\/moores-law\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Moore\u2019s Law<\/a>, which limits the number of traditional options, the rollout of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/semiengineering.com\/knowledge_centers\/artificial-intelligence\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">AI<\/a>&nbsp;everywhere, and a surge in data from more sensors, cameras and images with higher resolutions. In addition, more data is being run though&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/semiengineering.com\/knowledge_centers\/artificial-intelligence\/neural-networks\/convolutional-neural-network\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">convolutional neural networks<\/a>&nbsp;or&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/semiengineering.com\/knowledge_centers\/artificial-intelligence\/deep-learning\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">deep learning<\/a>&nbsp;inferencing systems, which bring huge data processing loads.<\/p><p>\u201cAs semiconductor scaling slows, but processing demands increase, designers are going to need to start working harder for those performance and efficiency gains,\u201d said Russell Klein, HLS platform director at <a href=\"https:\/\/semiengineering.com\/entities\/mentor-a-siemens-business\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Siemens EDA<\/a>. \u201cWhen optimizing any system, you need to focus on the biggest inefficiencies first.
