AMC Bridge: Enabling interoperability with JT cost-effectively

By JonR

JT has become the trusted file format for sharing 3D models – with millions of JT files already in use by the automotive and aerospace industries alone. With the increasing popularity of JT, we expect to see more applications providing access to the JT file format as a means of exchanging data among the growing number of commercial and proprietary CAD/CAM/CAE systems.

At the same time, software development teams in both manufacturing companies and independent software vendors face the usual difficulty of balancing development resources with business requirements. How can organizations enable software interoperability via JT quickly, without compromising on other high priority projects?

Our software partner, AMC Bridge, is a leading provider of software development services in CAD/CAM/CAE and is experienced in delivering solutions that leverage the JT Open Toolkit for reading, writing and utilising the JT file format. By way of example, AMC Bridge has developed a technology preview in their Labs environment that implements the JT Open Toolkit in a desktop application for converting the .dwg file format into the .jt file format, including translation of 2D/3D geometry, dimensions and annotations.
