ELTA Systems Antenna Design with NX KF
Moti Eitan of ELTA Systems (one of Israel’s leading Defense Electronics companies) gave a presentation about leveraging NX Knowledge Fusion (KF) to help with antenna design on Monday at Siemens PLM Connections Europe 2008.
He shared with the audience information a KF program that he has developed to help automate the process of antenna design. Previously, it took the mechanical design team several days to properly model the slots and pockets of an aircraft antenna. A typical antenna can have 500 to 600 slots! Not only did this process take a long time, but it was extremely tedious and error prone.
After talking to the mechanical and electrical design teams he came up with an initial version that he has refined and updated with additional user-requested enhancements over the past few years.
ELTA reduced design time from several days to just a few minutes with this program. Updating the 3D model is significantly easier when new parameters are received from the electronics designer team.
