Femap Composites Modeler
Hello everyone, this is my first official Siemens blog and I’m very pleased to be able to join the community. I work with the Siemens Velocity marketing team, with a particular focus on CAE – that is Solid Edge Simulation and Femap. So together with my esteemed colleague Mark Burhop (who as you know has been blogging on the subject for a while) I hope to bring you more news and items of interest on the topic of CAE.
So, on that subject I’d like to start by showing you how one of our partners has integrated their technology with ours. We recently entered into a partnership agreement with Simulayt – a UK based software company that produces some pretty amazing composites modeling software, which is now available in the form of the Composites Modeler for Femap.
Last year they have ported their technology onto the Femap platform using Femap’s API – and I have to say that it is one of the most professional implementations that I’ve seen. And with designers and engineers turning to use composite materials more and more (80% of the Boeing 787 structure is composite for example), it should prove to be a very useful application.
