New inventions on display at Maker Faire Detroit

With Solid Edge, we’re very interested in the “maker movement” which is all about new applications of technology and encourages invention and prototyping; so we are excited to be participating in the Maker Faire Detroit, which is being held at the Henry Ford museum in Dearborn, Michigan July 26-27th. At this event more than 400 makers will be demonstrating their ideas and inventions, with new products from robots and flame throwers to animatronics and solar powered mechanical sculptures on display.

Solid Edge has always been popular with inventors and small manufacturing companies, and we are looking forward to talking to many inventors and entrepreneurs at this event. For a long time Solid Edge has provided engineers with a comprehensive and flexible modeling solution that is also easy-to-learn, and the recent introduction of monthly subscriptions has reinforced its leadership as an “easy to access” professional CAD solution. Monthly subscriptions have actually been popular with both start-up manufacturing companies who may have limited capital resources but who still need access to a professional CAD solution, and with established manufacturing companies who need the flexibility to support contractors and interns without the long term costs of expanding their permanent license base. In the Solid Edge tent in Zone 2 at the Maker Faire you will be able to try out Solid Edge for yourself, and find out about our free 45 day trial program and our free software for students.

Meet Ali Kermani the inventor of the Razor Crazy Cart - and try one out for yourself!
Ali Kermani – inventor of the Razor Crazy Cart will be presenting at Maker Faire

One of the speakers at Maker Faire will be Ali Kermani, Ali is a product designer and brand manager at Razor USA and, having designed the Crazy Cart using Solid Edge, he recently delivered an excellent keynote speech at Solid Edge University 2014.  Ali shared his journey from a skateboarder working as a “product tester” to an inventor designing and launching the Crazy Cart. This past February the Toy Industry Association awarded the Crazy Cart a much sought after Toy of The Year award (T.O.T.Y.), naming the Crazy Cart as the 2014 Outdoor Toy of the Year. You can meet Ali Kermani in person at Maker Faire Detroit on Saturday, July 26th at 1:30 p.m., where he’ll share his inspiring story, a story which will most certainly resonate with inventors far and wide. You can also test drive a crazy cart on Saturday and Sunday at the event!
