What Happens in Vegas… v3
A busy day of back-to-back sessions and meetings got in the way of my overall plan but I wanted to give you a quick overview of the presentations made by our Tecnomatix customers. I can’t say enough about those who take the time to share their stories with the other users who have gathered here. Hat’s off, and thanks for making today’s sessions a success.
Our first customer of the day, Gene Coffman, Technical Lead for Virtual Manufacturing Technology and Global Deployment at Ford gave us some incredible insight into how Ford is changing the game and delivering world class quality by what he calls product to process compatibility. One team, one plan, one goal, it came through Gene’s presentation loud and clear and it shows with an amazing track record of significant reductions in first physical build issues over the past five consecutive years.
Next we heard from David Wheeler, who is responsible for PLM strategy at Rolls Royce in the UK. David shared with the audience how they value the PLM data model and its pervasive use throughout Rolls Royce and now, directly to the shop floor. This is a critical capability which has allowed them to streamline cross-system complexity and accommodate the demands of a highly regulated build and test process.
The afternoon customer sessions started with Angie Dunsmore from ATK who shared how they’re proving out the value of integrating Teamcenter Manufacturing with the Simatic MES solution as a fundamental building block necessary to maintain operational control with explicit work instructions while synchronizing the build schedule.
Finally we heard from Dr. Mathias Boehmisch from the Auto Fuel Cell Cooperation Corporation (AFCC). Fuel cell technology is the latest in clean energy for automotive powertrains and the AFCC has fast-tracked their PLM deployment by integrating the design, plan, build and test workflows and driving home the necessity of leveraging innovative technologies within their engineering teams. A joint venture between Daimler, Ford and Ballard Power Systems, AFCC is working hard to meet growing demand for green power systems.
We’re covering a lot of territory at PLM Connections so stay tuned as we’re just getting started.
