Re-igniting the dream of space
Engineers make moments like this come true.
What all goes into a moment like this happen? Dragon was designed from the ground up 12 years ago, with the initial purpose of bringing cargo to and from the International Space Station (ISS.) 12 years ago seems like a long time, however, in terms of state of the art technology it isn’t too far gone. Knowing this, Dragon, from the start was a modern technological beast. The design and execution of this beast is something else to be said. It is modern with 3 different touch screens, (no more old-school switches and buttons) comfortable, and automated. This is the way of the future.
Astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley will launch into orbit on a Crew Dragon spacecraft atop a Falcon 9 rocket. Liftoff was set for 4:33 p.m. EDT (2033 GMT) from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida on May 27th 2020.
The below video is from 2013, however, it shows Elon Musk describing the “future of design.” Note at the 20 second mark Space-X’s design software of choice being the Next Generation of Design with NX.
