NX Industrial Electrical Design – Symbol Creation

In electrical design engineering, the users may need to create symbols for a particular device. To achieve this, a user can create a symbol by creating the desired graphic.

A Symbol item is associated with a Type or a Product in the Reuse library. The Symbol consists of geometry, associated ports mapped to geometry, and annotations defined out of the device properties to whom it is assigned.

You can create symbols with these variations:

  • Type of Symbol Representation – Single-line, Multiline, Topology, Fluidic, etc.
  • Drawing Standards – IEC, ANSI.
  • Type of Connectors like- Electrical, Optical, Fluidic, or Logical ports.

With the help of the sketch functionality in the drafting application of NX, the desired geometry for the symbol can be created.

The ports are mapped to the geometry so that in an actual schematic, the user can access the ports for connection purposes.

The user can define the annotations to a symbol so that the required information like name, cross-references, description, etc. can be seen after its placement on a schematic page.

The users can proceed with this symbol in schematic drawings and can fulfill the desired electrical design engineering
