How to smooth out high speed machine motion with NX CAM

Smooth high speed traverses

Is your high speed machine suffering from fitful accel/decel as it process rapid traverse motions? If you isolate Z-travel as part of G0 rapid processing in order to “decend last” or “lift first” then this 2-stage rapid motion will play havoc with your high speed stepovers and traverses.

Learn how to set stepovers and traverses as fast feed rates, and how to set up the post processor to take advantage of this type of non-cutting motion.  Check out this great tech trip from Michael Hitchcock:

I've been focused on PLM CAM software, in one way or another, since 1992, which sounds like a very long time. I've written posts, done implementation and training, served as a product manager, and as a marketer. It has all been fun and I've met a lot of interesting people and seen a lot of interesting machine shops.
