CASE STUDY: Plastoform increases production efficiency by 8% with more efficient scheduling

Leading plastics manufacturer uses Siemens Opcenter Scheduling and INEA solutions provider

Plastoform, one of Europe’s leading thermoformable plastic material manufacturers for the automotive, agriculture and marine industries, is realizing huge gains in production efficiency with automated scheduling. Leveraging the Siemens Opcenter Scheduling solution and the expertise of Siemens’ support partner INEA, Plastoform has increased their production efficiency by 8%.

Plastoform was seeking a modern information system that it could integrate with its existing enterprise resource planning (ERP) system to support production scheduling. It wanted to increase planning efficiency by creating schedules for longer periods of time as well as optimize its machines and tooling.

They chose Opcenter Scheduling, part of the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio, the comprehensive and integrated portfolio of software and services from Siemens Digital Industries Software. The solution allowed them to reduce their manual production planning time and increase their production efficiency, as well as reduce their stock levels by over 90%.

“Not knowing or seeing the future and day-to-day planning was a nightmare,” said Mitja Pavlic, Head of Planning Department, Plastoform Šmarjeta. “Then, I was introduced to Opcenter Scheduling, the best program for scheduling production.”

Plastoform worked with Siemens’ solution partner, INEA d.o.o., which specializes in solving complex operations and supply chain problems in manufacturing. INEA installed Opcenter Scheduling and offered valuable insights on production planning and detailed scheduling efficiencies while also providing an operations roadmap.

Read the entire case study to understand the issues Plastoform was able to solve, including the reduction in machine setup time, and the keys to their successful project, such as enhancing their ERP data quality. Use the learnings of Plastoform to realize these types of results in your own operations.
