Mastering quality management in the electronics industry

Leveraging quality management best-practices to meet the world’s demand for electronics devices

Are you ready to navigate the rapidly evolving electronics industry? As time-to-market windows shrink and profit opportunities become more challenging, it’s crucial to leverage quality management best practices to meet the world’s demand for electronic devices.

The challenges faced by the electronics industry

As the electronics industry faces rapid ecosystem evolution, time-to-market windows and business profit opportunities shrink. The effects of the internet of things (IoT), new technologies and shifting market landscapes compound these issues, forcing manufacturers to rethink their business and equip themselves with tools to accelerate electronic device development. Customers expect customized products quickly while requiring flawless quality.

What do electronics manufacturers need to enable smarter decisions for everyone involved in the system or product development?

Mastering product complexity in this fiercely competitive high tech marketplace necessitates responding swiftly to evolving requirements. The convergence of these intricate trends demands a digital solution to establish a lasting competitive advantage in today’s dynamic electronics market.

Digitalization offers a solution, enabling companies to enhance efficiency, profitability, product quality, and on-time deliveries. In a true Digital Enterprise, the combination of the real and the digital worlds permits harmonization of the entire value chain, from design to implementation, while a constant flow of data enables ongoing optimization.

Embracing a digital approach is a game-changer. It fosters teamwork, streamlines processes and ensures adherence to industry standards, all crucial aspects in today’s competitive landscape.

Electronics manufacturers can enable smarter decisions and increase their chances for success by using Siemens Digital Industries Software’s solutions. By taking control of product development information and processes, comprehensive collaboration across disciplines can be achieved.

Boosting quality in lifecycle management

As customer expectations for swift electronics NPI cycle times rise, the complexity of quality challenges in design and production intensifies. This evolving market demand heightens competitive pressures and resource limitations, necessitating a constant enhancement of core processes. By leveraging a digital quality management approach, manufacturers can minimize risks and turn complexity into a competitive advantage.

Using an end-to-end digitalized PLM system, manufacturers can reach across engineering, design, quality management and production domains to provide integrated data management and collaborative tools. Further, it can increase design and production capabilities to address product complexity, enhance stakeholder and ecosystem collaboration and elevate quality.

A closed-loop quality solution enables a standardized, centralized and strategized approach to quality that lets you identify potential problems earlier in the product’s lifecycle. Eliminating problems and minimizing quality risks in earlier phases reduces the time, effort and cost associated with production launch and ramp-up. Importantly, when companies institute a closed-loop quality solution, they avoid replicating or losing information between several departments, plants or suppliers. A closed-loop approach facilitates comparing specifications and analyzing deviations to immediately contain and solve problems .

Overall, the key processes concerning quality in the electronics industry include areas from design and development and testing to customer feedback and support. By focusing on these processes, electronics companies endeavor to deliver high-quality and reliable products to meet ever-increasing industry demands.

Recognizing the needs of electronics companies, we have integrated quality as part of our PLM processes. This integration allows customers to dismantle silos between departments and domains, facilitating faster and more informed decisions grounded in comprehensive data.
