D-Cubed CDM version 55.0

By JonR

Key enhancements introduced in version 55.0 of D-Cubed CDM (Collision Detection Manager) are described below.

Support for Helical Swept Surfaces

CDM supports numerous curve and surface types, enabling computational optimisations compared to generic parametric geometry types. Version 55 sees the introduction of helical swept surfaces which were previously represented by parametric surfaces.

Improvements to Collision Computations Between Facets

CDM supports any permutation of accurate and faceted geometry types. This release contains improvements to facet-facet collisions, including when facetted surfaces are in contact with each other.

Performance Optimisation – Groups

CDM supports collections of geometries called sets, often corresponding to application parts. Multiple sets can also be instances of a single reference set. This release introduces groups, which can contain multiple sets or instances. CDM will not perform computations between the entities that have been added by an application to a group, improving performance.

Improvements to Parasolid Wrapper

A wrapper interface assists with the integration between CDM and the Parasolid® modeller. This release supports Parasolid extendable surfaces.

About D-Cubed CDM

D-Cubed CDM (Collision Detection Manager) is a software component that offers collision detection and clearance distance measurement for solid, surface and wireframe models. It supports accurate, tolerant and faceted geometry. Used in assembly, mechanism, machining and measurement simulation environments, CDM offers a range of algorithms to interactively detect collisions and compute clearances, even on large, complex assemblies. Performance is particularly excellent for repeated computations on models that are in motion. CDM is compatible with most applications, being independent of any particular modeler or model format.
