Software startup reduces risk and accelerates time-to-market with PLM Components
Congratulations to Shapr3D, the Budapest-based software startup that recently secured $6M in series A financing. The funding will enable the company to further invest in the next generation of 3D CAD on mobile computing devices.
Shapr3D licensed our Parasolid geometric modeling kernel and geometric constraint solver (D-Cubed 2D DCM) to accelerate development and release of their pioneering application for computer-aided design on the iPad.
Shapr3D is the highest-rated CAD application in the App Store®. The software enables designers and engineers to work on CAD models anywhere at any time. The intuitive interface is easy to master and a touch stylus delivers the precise interaction needed for professional design.
As a software startup, Shapr3D sought to bring their product quickly to market. The company integrated PLM Components so that they would spend fewer resources on reinventing modeling technology that is available off-the-shelf. Instead they could turn their attention to innovating in mobile CAD. Parasolid was chosen for its superior 3D modeling performance. Licensing the world’s leading geometric modeling kernel also assured data interoperability with hundreds of other applications based on Parasolid. And in order to create the most intuitive and precise sketching experience possible, Shapr3D integrated the D-Cubed 2D DCM into their sketcher.
The application programming interface and documentation were of the highest standard and, with the collaborative support of Siemens Digital Industries Software, we brought a product to market within 12 months that was an instant success.
