Structure links using the Tab Key
The TAB key is a very convenient way to create structural links between work items. When you create a new document you can define the link role to be used for the relationship set by the TAB key. By default the “has parent” link is used. So when you select a work item in a document and hit TAB, it becomes the child of the immediately preceding work item.
Important: If you move a work item into a document that has links to other work items having the same link role as specified for the document link role, these links are removed if the parent of the link doesn’t exist inside the document. (See Tip #3 Moving Work Items.)
Linking Work Items between documents
Select the work item which should become the parent of the link and use work item menu to copy its ID:
Select the work item which should become the child of the link and use the Work Item Properties pane of the document sidebar to paste the link:
