Siemens and IFPEN extend long-lasting partnership to accelerate decarbonized mobility
In December 2022, Siemens Digital Industries Software and IFP Energies nouvelles (IFPEN) have renewed the partnership contract, adding a new chapter to a 20 years lasting collaboration that accelerates the energy transformation towards clean mobility.
Since the start of the collaboration in 2002 and the formalized partnership in 2004, this joint approach has focused on the co-development of dedicated libraries for Simcenter Amesim by IFPEN for internal combustion engines, exhaust after-treatment systems, vehicles, and electric storage systems. These Simcenter Amesim libraries have been validated thanks to the IFPEN experimental test benches and allow users to build predictive models used from early design stages up to the final powertrain control validation and calibration phase. In recent years, these libraries have been enriched by numerous tools such as HOT (Hybrid Optimization Tool), the Electric Motor Tables Creator, and the Battery Pre-Sizing Tool, easing the use of these libraries.
The latest renewal of the partnership further extends the scope towards hydrogen Fuel Cell Systems, considered as one of the solutions to decarbonize mobility.
As a result of this partnership, users of Simcenter Amesim can rely on the highly sophisticated and validated libraries developed by IFPEN for the prediction of battery aging, fuel cell sizing, emission reduction, and other challenges related to decarbonized mobility. An example of the integration of the IFPEN libraries in Simcenter Amesim and how they support the development of innovative powertrains can be found in this blog.
