Excellence is not an act, but a habit, as is the NVH of electric vehicles

More than 2300 years ago, Aristotle said: “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.” This being said, one must be thoughtful in selecting habits. When following established patterns, even in response to radically changing market trends, companies might get stuck in the ways of thinking and working that were successful in the past. A habit that possibly no longer serves.

Last summer, Volvo Cars marked the end of the petrol engine and announced that as of this year they will go all electric. Today, many other automotive OEMs and suppliers have made similar pronouncements. Inspired by customer demands, legal requirements and global sustainability, this decision does them no harm. But surely this isn’t only because of the decision to invest in low-emission and zero-emission vehicles. It is the result of a series of actions, which have become a habit and according to Aristotle’s insights… an excellent habit.

At Siemens, we have a nose for excellence and are in the driver seat to help (H)EV manufacturers and suppliers to deliver superior product performance of the electric motor, battery and full vehicle. Whether your focus domain is NVH & acoustics, thermal and energy management or vehicle integration, the Simcenter integrated solutions combine the best of simulation and testing techniques to help you engineer superior products.

With no masking noise of an internal combustion engine, ensuring acoustic comfort means tackling a host of new phenomena that weren’t on the radar in the past. This on-demand webinar focuses on the NVH and acoustic behavior of electric and hybrid electric vehicles.

Illustrated by application examples, this webinar discusses the following topics:

    • Electric motor noise: analyze sound quality and simulate e-motor noise to lower high-frequency noise in electric vehicles and transient noise in hybrid electric vehicles
    • Wind noise: lower noise levels and simulate wind noise prior to a prototype
    • Road noise: identify the root causes and validate chassis and body modifications to increase passenger comfort
    • New noise sources: take control of noise sources that went unnoticed in the past, such as HVAC, battery cooling, steering systems, etc.
    • Warning sounds: simulate the noise generated by warning systems that are designed to protect pedestrians without creating noise pollution
    • Vehicle integration: integrate electric power sources in the driveline while ensuring smooth operation with minimum NVH impact. Balance NVH and ride comfort with body weight

Does excellent acoustic and NVH behavior of your hybrid and electric vehicles also rank high on your agenda? Act now and register for the on-demand webinar.
