The glamour of international yachting

The Simcenter team here at Siemens are an innovative bunch, they are always keen to try something new, support others with their technical challenges and push the boundary of possibility.  This year we are embarking on a different kind of project with some young sailors to support them on their quest for better and faster.

This weekend we met up with six young teams from across the world to discuss their aspirations for an upcoming world championships.  They are all sailors, still at school, definitely not rich but they have the advantage of all being powered by Simcenter.   In late July these six teams along with 192 other boats from 19 different countries will battle over five days to become World Champions in their sailing class.  Competitors aged between 10 – 18, male and female compete on an equal basis.

The team at P&B Sailmakers have been busy this week preparing the branded spinnakers for these teams and we presented the first kite this weekend to Alice Davies and Aby Hire.  Alice and Aby are the currently the highest placed all-female crew in the UK (RS FEVA XL).

Alice, ‘I am really looking forward to the worlds in Italy, not just for the weather (which will be amazing) but to use the brand new kite my crew and I are being offered for the event!!! Thank you Simcenter!’
