A desiYuri.pnggn-by-contract approach to distributed embedded software development

Yuri Durodie, Siemens PLM Software

Track 2, Room M6

Embedded software is becoming increasingly complex and more distributed and is today the most crucial innovation driver of technical systems. Although the embedded software community has adopted model-based development (MBD) to cope with complex system design, the specific constraints and domain-specific requirements for the embedded software still bring various challenges and ask for a specialized approach. Moreover, organizations have long struggled to break down large, complex embedded applications into manageable isolated components and boost cross-functional collaboration.

Enabling embedded devices for industrial Internet of Things (IIoT)

Eric Faure, Mentor – A Siemens Business

Tuesday, Nov 6, 2018, at 14:20

Track 4, Open stage

For industrial equipment manufacturers, the market demand to integrate and connect devices within the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) is growing by the day. The competitive pressures and customer expectations for reliability, maintainability, upgradeability, and secure operations are a few of the primary drivers.

This presentation seeks to outline a few of the key architectural considerations required for the successful operation of smart devices within an IIoT infrastructure with a focus on the software that runs on the device. A few of the more common device software challenges will be highlighted, and a promising new framework that addresses some of the key device software gaps will be presented.
