Wrapping up the Femap Symposium Series 2015 in Seattle WA

The final event of the Femap Symposium Series 2015 took place in Everett, Washington at Boeing’s Future of Flight Aviation Center. The event was co-hosted with Siemens channel partner Applied CAx. The main focus topics included best practices for analysis efficiency for aerospace simulation engineers and aerospace suppliers.

The afternoon proceedings commenced with a review of the latest Femap functionality and roadmap by Mark Sherman, director of Femap development.

Ian Won from the Federal Aviation Administration presented Finite Element Modeling and Analyiss Validation, highlighting Federal Aviation Regulation requirements for a validated finite element analysis and identified acceptable means of validating FEA results that are compliant with related structural FARs.

Joe Brackin, senior software engineer with the Femap development group, showed how you can improve NX Nastran performance through efficient use of hardware and fine tuning the NX Nastran solver to make the most of available memory and available processors.

Finally, George Laird, principal mechanical engineer at Siemens channel partner Applied CAx, presented Femap and NX Nastran modeling and best practices.
