Matthias Heinicke of Siemens Industry Software recently served as a featured participant in Virtual Planning, Verification, and Collaboration Day, at University of Mannheim, Germany, to present and demonstrate Simulation Solutions for Material Flow Optimization to customers including Volkswagen, Daimler and John Deere.
This Virtual Planning, Verification and Collaboration Day event was part of the inauguration of the university’s new five side cave automatic virtual environment (CAVE), an immersive, virtual reality, environment where projectors are directed to between three and five of the walls of a room-sized cube. The cave is sponsored by farm machine builder John Deere.
Heinicke’s presentation focused on how virtual reality is getting real, and reality is getting virtual. By using Siemens Tecnomatix Plant Simulation software, a discrete event simulation tool, users combine 3D plant simulation models with point clouds to create photo realistic views for material flow optimization.
