Digital transformation and data sharing in the manufacturing industry at Hannover Messe 2022
Hannover Messe, one of the world’s largest trade fairs, is back for 2022. From May 30th to June 2nd, thousands of exhibitors, including Siemens, and attendees will gather in Hannover to share knowledge, show off new technologies, and make new connections. For those of us who are not able to make the journey over to Germany, the fair also features numerous ways to attend virtually through livestreamed sessions, video calls with exhibitors, and virtual network capabilities. Throughout Hannover Messe, Siemens experts will be participating in well over a dozen sessions, from keynotes and lectures to panel discussions and more, and nearly all these sessions will be livestreamed. First is the session titled “Unify Digital Experiences Across Your Value Chain”, presented by Raymond Kok, VP of Cloud Application Solutions at Siemens Digital Industries Software, and Stefan Höchbauer, CRO of Manufacturing at Salesforce. The session description is as follows:

Next is a session that will dive into the underlying frameworks that can enable data sharing and collaboration between partners in a secure way. Presented by Dr. Sicco Lehmann-Brauns from Siemens AG, the session titled “Data-based value creation in the electrical and digital industries” will cover various data sharing models with practical examples and offer findings from industry research. There are already a large number of examples of how companies in the manufacturing industry are establishing data collaborations and implementing new, data-based value propositions on the market. In a project of the German Electrical and Digital Manufacturers’ Association (ZVEI), we have developed an analysis of these examples. It becomes clear that five different data sharing models can be distinguished with regard to the respective value propositions and the underlying data exchange frameworks. However, these are based on a common platform-based basic structure. The five data sharing models in the manufacturing industry are presented and illustrated using concrete practical examples from ZVEI member companies. It is shown that, depending on the use case, different economic, technical and legal approaches exist as to how data sovereignty, data security and scalability can be achieved in industry.
