The future of digitalization: A world of complexity
Recently Tosh Tambe, VP, Cloud Strategy and Transformation and Chad Jackson, Chief Analyst and CEO of Lifecycle Insights, had a conversation regarding Xcelerator as a Service and what it means for digital transformation.
This three-part series highlights their conversation and thoughts on the future of digitalization.
Part 1: A World of Complexity
The next step forward into digital transformation is in leveraging or utilizing the connectedness of cloud technologies and delivering solutions that a service model can provide.
Complexity is real. It’s increasing every day in our customers’ environment as they expect more and more smart and connected products. As companies become continuously connected, they must find a way to deal with these expectations. This also means that the products they design and manufacture are getting more complex as well.
How can businesses take advantage of that complexity through external tools?
With the recent launch of Xcelerator as a Service, these businesses won’t just live with this complexity, but actually thrive in it. The breadth and depth within each domain within Xcelerator enhances the use and capability of the company’s technological abilities.
Distribution and the as-a-service model
The pandemic has accelerated the realization of more remote and distributed supply chains, employees and users. Having tools cloud ready and connected for access and flexibility of use across these distributed set of users within a company and across a supply chain is imperative.
XaaS has the accessibility, scalability and flexibility to make standardized technology available for these distributed users. The as-a-service model is the natural next step from a business world standpoint.
“You can almost think of this as digital threads as a service,” Tosh comments.
Connecting domain technologies more seamlessly together to enable these workflows, these digital threads, is all about a high-fidelity digital representation of the workflows and processes. XaaS technology tools and cloud capabilities enables and builds connectedness providing fluidity across domains where real value in the insights is used to optimize the product and/or process.
Tosh adds, “Subscribing to that service is really subscribing to two things: It’s subscribing to the portfolio, all of these more connected technologies. It’s also subscribing to the community because that connectedness also more naturally creates the connective tissue between the users to form a community.”
That’s the foundational elements of how we’ve transformed our portfolio and business to create Xcelerator as a Service.
